cheap Week 1 by tyfn, prostate on Flickr”>Velcade Chemo Treatment: Cycle 6, Week 1Week 26 of chemo

Another week of chemo treatment has passed. Not going to lie. Chemo is rough, messes with your body and your mind. Need to find a go-to person with free time to visit me because chemo + single = the worst.

Each week I take dexamethasone (steroid) and cyclophosphamide (chemotherapy) pills. As this week is my 26th week in total, the pills are shaped into a 26. Daily I take a baby aspirin to minimise the likelihood of a stroke and Valdrex (Valacyclovir) to reduce the chance of an infection.

My chemo drugsMy Chemo Drugs

Weekly this cycle:
Cyclophosphamide 50mg 11 tablets
Cyclophosphamide 25mg 1 tablet
Dexamethasone 4mg 10 tablets

Daily:
Valdrex (Valacyclovir) 500mg 1 tablet

Hopefully this is my final cycle of chemo treatment. This week, as it is the first week, I had a big blood test that will tell me my updated cancer levels since the beginning of Cycle 5. As I reported yesterday, my cancer levels have dropped from 8.2 igG (last month) to 7.3.

Lowered cancer levels again! Looking happy!

Yesterday, I received my Velcade chemo injections. I received a 1.4mg and 1.5mg injection into the left side of my stomach. It was quick and painless (I always look away).

Afterwards I dropped by the BC Cancer Agency pharmacy to pick up my cyclophosphamide and dexamethasone. While waiting, I saw this inspirational plaque and felt I needed to share.
